Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 4 sticks butter (melted)
- 1 large egg
- 4 to 5 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tablespoon tahini
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/2 cup walnuts (chopped)
For the Syrup:
- 3 cups sugar
- 2 cups water
- 1 cup molasses
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
Directions:
- Make the Syrup: In a saucepan, combine water and sugar, and bring to a boil.
- Boil for 10 minutes, then add lemon juice.
- Remove from heat, add 1 cup molasses, and let the syrup cool.
- Prepare the Dough: In a large bowl, mix melted butter, flour, tahini, walnuts, baking powder, and egg until well blended.
- Bake the Dough: Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Press the dough mixture evenly into the bottom of an ungreased medium-sized baking tray.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes, or until lightly browned.
- Combine with Syrup: Remove the tray from the oven, and pour the cooled syrup over the baked dough.
- Serve: Allow the dessert to absorb the syrup completely before serving.
