I first tasted Mango Lassi at an Indian restaurant in Türkiye. Later, I learned it’s a popular drink across Asia, especially in India and Pakistan, where mangoes are abundant.

Mango Lassi is a little thick, but smooth textured with a strong mango flavor that will please all mango lovers. When possible, use fresh, fully ripe, sweet mangoes because they are naturally rich in flavor. The recipe calls for plain yogurt and whole milk, but low or non-fat yogurt and milk can be used as well. Maple syrup, almond, oat or soy milk can also be used. Greek yogurt is not recommended in this recipe as it has a more sour flavor and much thicker consistency.

For a truly refreshing experience, freeze the mangoes and chill the yogurt and milk in advance.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups chopped mangoes (preferably fresh and ripe)
  • 1 cup plain yogurt (avoid Greek yogurt)
  • 1/2 cup whole milk (or almond, oat, or soy milk)
  • 2 tablespoons honey (or maple syrup)
  • Ice cubes (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Place all ingredients in a blender.
  2. Blend on high until smooth.
  3. Adjust consistency with extra milk or ice cubes as desired. Taste and add more honey if needed.
  4. Serve immediately, or chill before serving if using non-frozen mangoes.

Tips: Store any leftovers in the refrigerator, or freeze in molds for delicious popsicles. Enjoy this refreshing, tasty, and healthy treat!
