On Eid al-Fitr, the holiday that marks the end of the fasting month of Ramadan, Muslims experience an ever-greater joy with hopes that their sins will be forgiven, that they will have attained Allah’s (s.w.t.) pleasure and that they will earn the lasting bliss of Paradise. For Allah (s.w.t.) promises enormous rewards without measure for proper fasting.

Abu Hurairah (r.anh) reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “He who observes fasting during the month of Ramadan with Faith while seeking its reward from Allah, will have his past sins forgiven.”

Al-Bukhari and Muslim; Riyad as-Salihin 1219

Abu Hurairah (r.anh) narrated that: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, “Indeed your Lord said: Every good deed is rewarded with ten of the same up to seven hundred times over. Fasting is for Me, and I shall reward for it.”

For centuries, Muslims from different nations have made ghusl, put on their best clothes, prayed the congregational Eid prayer, given out zakat al-fitr, and visited their friends and family on the blessed day of Eid. Apart from these common practices, Muslims from east to west have their own long-standing and unique traditions and customs.

Here we have gathered real experiences from our sisters and brothers around the world whom we are thankful for. Now let us discover how Eid is observed, honored and celebrated in these different countries.
